Shopping around for an MS in IA/Network Security/Cybersecurity

All,

I'm currently in my last year of my BS program in Computer Networking with Regis University. Although they do have a MSIA program that looks fairly good, it still couldn't hurt to shop around and see what is good out there.

Does anyone have any experience with Regis' MSIA program?

What are some other good reputable programs that I can finish in ~1 or so?

Check out degreeinfo.com and geteducated.com for a list of schools.

Hi there, I made a small chart of some interesting and well known MS programs that can be done online relating to computer networking.
I wouldn't know too much about IA programs, but some of these schools do offer that grad program option as well.

My top choices that I am going to apply to when I get my BS in order of preference are:
1) Syracuse University - MS Telecommunications and Network Management
2) Rochester Institute of Technology - MS Networking and Systems Administration
3) DePaul University - MS Network Engineering and Management
4) Southern Methodist University - MS Telecommunications

Take a look at those programs. They are very nicely laid out and include some CCIE topics. They all expect you have at least CCNA knowledge and professional experience along with a BS in Networking/CS/IT.

Although not as cheap, Penn State has a nice online program if you want a degree that may have more weight or prestige (real or perceived) than a Regis or WGU. Not too many IT related Master's programs though

When choosing a MS program, you ideally want to go with a program that is well respected and local to your area or a top 10 program. The links above should help you to narrow that list down. Ill just toss Stevens Institute of Technology out there. Its very well respected, i believe they have some partnerships with DoD and they have a DC Campus. Good luck!

Stevens is very respected in NYC. when i worked there and had two high school interns, one of them got a full ride to Stevens and the other Georgia tech. Top of their class and got into two hard to get into schools.

I'm in DC as well. I've been looking at GWU and GMU both have online programs and are very highly respected. I've been looking at UMUC as well just because I don't want to take the GRE. GWU is my dream school though and despite the cost I think it would be well worth it. A colleague of mine went to WGU and she really liked it. As long as you are okay with graduating with a 3.0 GPA and you don't plan on pursuing any education afterward.

Not sure what you mean but I've read here and elsewhere where people have gone on to very well respected institutions for furthering their education after completing a degree at WGU. And that includes some top 10 MBA programs too. Of course to get into a top 10 MBA you would have to have a very high GMAT, but still other well known institutions utilize pass/fail, such as Brown University.

For those in the DC area - anyone interested in setting up a GRE/GMAT study group/meetup? There are a few programs I've found that require GRE/GMAT and wouldn't mind a good group of tech guys to study with.

If interested, send me a PM - if there's sufficient interest, I'll look into starting a group on meetup.com. Just FYI - I'm on the Virginia side of the beltway and looking to start the group there.

I meant Regis > WGU. Sorry for the confusion.

I think Capitol College's program is growing on me. I like the curriculum, I've read nothing but good things about them, and their campus is 10 minutes away from me. Does anyone have any thoughts on Capitol?
