Weeks Without a Manager...
Our company has lost 2 Data-Cisco Engineers and 1 Manager in the winter, I came in as a Network Engineer to hold off the wall of tickets, projects, deployments, Solarwinds deployment, switch refresh, IOS nation wide refresh, etc... and have done so very successfully.
Now, I've begun doing Circuit, Network Edge, Network Distribution, Network Core and WAP Asset tracking, provisioning, ordering, quality checks, monthly reports, you name it... I've taken that management part of the team and have become "that" point of contact.
I was wondering, albeit I'm new here and the talk about hiring someone has finally started (for myself and 2 VoIP people), should I approach the IT Director and see if this is a role I could take, as Technical Lead in a sense?
I'm excited at the prospect of that happening, but terrified because I really do like being technical, hands on the config, involved in data center upgrades face first, etc. But love the pay aspect and responsibility aspect of such a change.
I never realized how much a company needed to keep the clock works going for just Circuits and Devices in raw provision and management power.
Thanks for the inputs!
