If you looking for software to surf anonymously check out free JAP:

You can either use JAP (see link above) or look for so called Open Proxies on the net...Working on CCNP: [X] SWITCH --- [ ] ROUTE --- [ ] TSHOOT

darkmagic Member Posts: 127I have heard & read a lot about "tor" networks & onion router & how they provide near impossible to break anonymity, but of course you would have to use them with software to encrypt your data before it reaches the first onion router.
But Tor as such is a gr8 concept & what more its absolutely free

You should be in business! I used to setup a proxy at my house to bypass the filter at my high school. -
darkmagic Member Posts: 127Hey xwesleyxwillisx, thats a good idea & i would certainly like to try it out for myself but i have some serious considerations to be taken care of before i try that, am i correct in thinking as follows, please correct me if i am wrong "xwesleyxwillisx"
--> The computer on which the circumventor is installed needs to be online all the time if you want o browse through that URL
--> Also, the browsing speed then depends on the bandwidth of the computer on which the circumventor software is installed. I mean in the office if i am using 1.5Mbps & on the machine on which circumventor is installed has a speed of 256Kbps, i would be forced to browse at a max speed of 256K's
--> The computer on which circumventor is installed & is being used by the office computer might be left vulnerable to many -
xwesleyxwillisx Member Posts: 158Your statements were correct darkmagic. Your office PC will be able to browse webpages at the same speed as the bandwidth of the Internet connection of the Circumventor PC.
The Circumventor will only be vulnerable if your firewall/NAT device is configured incorrectly. You mentioned it has a 256k connection. Is this an ISDN connection? Anyway, if you have a NAT device, such as a router, you are going to need to enable port forwarding. If so, it should be documented by the manufacturer at their webpage on how to configure it.
If the PC has a direct connection to the Internet, be sure it has a software firewall enabled with all ports disabled except 443 (https). For extra security, configure the router to only allow inbound https connections from your office's public IP address. To find the public IP, go to whatismyip.com.
Hope this helps! -
darkmagic Member Posts: 127Well, the connection is a broadband connection from one of the local ISP's
And my modem was providing private IP's ( NATing ) but i turned it into bridge mode so that i don't have problems with my P2P softwares. So right now i only have the software firewall configured & yes i will leave port 443 opened up for the public ip of my office computer which i guess i know already.
Well, i guess i am all set will try it out tomorrow from the office.
Thanx buddy.
