An 802.11 access point acts as a half-duplex hub. An AP with one radio is either sending or receiving, can only talk to one client at a time, and all clients within range can receive all packets sent by all nodes in the wireless network. An AP with multiple radios can talk with multiple clients and use different channels simultaneously.
