Without ? and especially shortened commands, things could get rather difficult. Is it "show ip xxxxx neighbor" or "show ip xxxxx neighbors" for a given routing protocol? With shortened commands it doesn't matter ("sh ip xxxxx neigh" works either way). It also helps for long, easily mispelled words. Simply shorten them to something simple. For complicated commands (especially those with multiple parts) the ? can be invaluable for recalling the exact construction of the command. Almost forgot...the ? can also reveal what commands are available. I use it in Packet Tracer regularly when a command doesn't seem to be working [and find that the command I'm trying to use - e.g. a login banner on a Switch, an exec banner on anything, or DHCP Server on a switch - is unavailable in PT]
