Sought after skills in IT?

Hey guys

I had some personal issues which resulted in me having to quit my job.
Now I am ready to get back into IT but I am not certain which path to follow?
I have always done Tech support roles but now I have five years experience its time I choose my real path.
My biggest interests are networking, servers and virtualisation. Is virtualisation worth pursing as my career goal?

Sure it is.
To give you a perfect example I went from a Field engineer in networking (majority Cisco) to a Cloud Services engineer at my company where I get daily exposure to NetApp, VMWare/ESXi, Hyper-V 2012, Avamar, and more. If that is what you want to do go for it.
There is a demand for it.

And seeing that you carry a lot of MS Certs there is even a certification line called "Private Cloud" for the MS side of things.

Forget about tech support with your experience and certifications.
By the way, you only have one MS exam to pass to give you either MCITP:EA or MCITP:SA (MCSA200

Get an enterprise sysadmin job and you will be able to work on all three. This will give you a rounded knowledge and opportunity to find out what you are most passionate about.
