What to do with used routers?

in CCNA & CCENT
I just bought some used Cisco 1700 routers to practice CCNA. Other than issuing "erase startup-config", what else should I do to make sure these Cisco routers are clean.
A different thought just poped up, but still on this topic. Do Cisco routers ever get viruses?

Just erase it and you are good to go.
Viruses? Not in the typical sense, but they do have security vulnerabilities in the IOS software.An expert is a man who has made all the mistakes which can be made. -
