If you could only buy one book for A+ what would it be?

Hey guys, So I've decided to pursue a career in the IT field. I'm currently set to begin a full time diploma program at BCIT up in Canada (The CIT program.) and will pursue a full degree once I've attained the diploma.

I've also decided to go for A+, Network+, and CCENT/CCNA in that order.

That being said, if you could only buy one book to study with for A+ (and Network+ for that matter), which would it be?

I have no professional IT experience, just grew up with computers and am very comfortable working with them.

I didn't even know Darril Gibson Had an A+ book. Is it as good as his Sec+ book?

Another vote for Mike Meyers. You honestly don't even have to look elsewhere as his covers everything you need. I was not impressed with Darril Gibson's Sec+ but did not read his A+.

If you can only buy one, then get the All-in-One by Mike Meyers that has been previously mentioned. I read that book, watched the Professor Messer videos, and both 801 and 802 were a breeze.

    'i' before 'e' except after 'c'.... weird?

Welcome to the forums RedGaiter. You've received a lot of good recommendations here. The only thing I'd like to mention is that it's best to use more than a single source for a certification, especially as you move forward in your certification path. Depending on a single source can sometimes leave holes in your knowledge, especially when you're starting without any professional IT experience.

Good luck with the A+ cert and the rest of your certification path.

I don't think there is an average. It depends on your knowledge level, how well you absorb information. I think if you have a good knowledge on computers and troubleshooting you could read any A+ book in about a week and have a good foundation to take and pass the exam. The exam isn't hard but is so broad and covers so many topics.

Not impressed w/ his Sec+ book?
What'd you use instead to pass the cert when you took it?
