2610 WIC-2T connection problems

So I got my 2610s, and I got 1 WIC-2T right now, I bought some crossover DB60 to smart serial connector. The DB60 ends are going to my 2501's.
I have tried countless configurations to get these links up, changing the DCE side and so forth, and they wont come up. I found a command on the 2610 S0/X interfaces called physical-layer sync. I applied that command and the smart serial ends came up in loopback, int up, line prot down. The 2501's show no connection at all.
ANything special I need to do since the WIC is Asynch/synch and I just need it to be synch? Im not sure if I have a bad WIC or bad cables (both?) otherwise, I am leaning towards the WIC as the idiot I bought the wic from on ebay has never heard of static bag, and shipped it UPS (United package smashers ).
I hope not, if so these will be the second time I got burned on ebay this month, I bought a 2924 EN and it came DOA, but at least the seller is working with me for a refund.

2lazybutsmart Member Posts: 1,119forbsel, where in CCO do u get this information?
btw, jhonny, have u double checked ur Keepalives? I had some nasty problems with the WIC-2T (yes, I have one on the 2620XM) a few weeks back and I figured out someone played with the Keepalives. It was giving me that up,down on the DCE and down, down on the DTE.Exquisite as a lily, illustrious as a full moon,

wildfire Member Posts: 654I had real problems with wic-2t and wic-2a/s on a 2612 and 3620, I couldnt get the interface to come up, and when I did show diag it said unknown serial port, put it into a 1720 and it came up straight away. #
I also found that smart serial to db-60 cross overs are a bit hit and miss, the smart serial will work the a slight touch and its gone! you said you changed the dce? the DCE will only be on on end either the smart end or the db60 end you cant change this. What clock rate are you using? I found clock rate 64000 works but anything else has problems.
why dont you post your configs. post your sh runn, show diag, sh contro s?? try doing a shutdown, the loop the no shutthen no loop.ANything special I need to do since the WIC is Asynch/synch and I just need it to be synch? You said it came up in loopback, this normally suggests you hardware is okLooking for CCIE lab study partnerts, in the UK or Online. -
johnnynodough Member Posts: 634According to the comptibility matrix, all versions of IOS are compatible with the WIC-2T whne it is in the onboard slots, any slots in NM's needs IOS Cisco IOS versions 12.0(7)XK, 12.1(1)T, 12.2, 12.2T. Im at 12.3. Just for giggles Im am downloading 12.2T just to see what happens.Go Hawks - 7 and 2

wildfire Member Posts: 654Thats wierd because
DCD=up DSR=up DTR=up RTS=up CTS=up
this means as you say your layer one singnalling is up and the interface it up, just line protocol down it normally either a clock or encapsulation issue, try using the default encap, so "no ecnapsulation ppp"
Its strange how it wont take you clock rate command in, try removing the cable then putting the command in both routers then reinsert the cable.Looking for CCIE lab study partnerts, in the UK or Online. -

I take it not you have gone to hdlc it wont take the command? try taking the cable of, assing the clock rate, save config, reload, then no shut then put the cable on.Looking for CCIE lab study partnerts, in the UK or Online. -
johnnynodough Member Posts: 634Its 12.3 and I rolled back to 12.2T to check, but no change. I am getting a V.35 DCE to smart serial cable and will hook that up to a V.35 to DB60 DTE cable and see what happens. They are both Cisco made so I will trust the results more than these cross over cables. I have a WIC-1T coming but I realized that it has a DB60 connector, so that wont help me troubleshoot the cable.Go Hawks - 7 and 2

johnnynodough Member Posts: 634OK, got my hands on a Cisco made V.35 to SS DTE cable today, linked it to a Cisco V.35 to DB 60 DCE cable. Very interesting results.
On S0/0, I can get a link light, I can get the int up, cant get LP up at all, no activity whatsoever on the router on the other end. HDLC or PPP. Same as using the DB60/SS crossover cable.
Now on S0/1. I get the link light again, and I can get the int and LP up as before, but on the 2501, I get a link this time, I get the int up, and the link light goes totally ape$hit! When using PPP i can debug PPP events and LCP is trying like a mad fool to setup the link, but nigh a reply from the WIC2T. I switch to HDLC and the link light still goes nuts, but nothing tangible to debug.
So this leads me to 2 conclusions, the WIC is for definetely bad, and at least one of the cross over cables are bad.
Im done with these WIC-2T;s, and I am done buying cisco gear from people that havent sold it before. I lucked out with this one though, the seller already refunded me so this sucker is going out tomorrow.
I just hope this didnt fry the serial port on my 2501Go Hawks - 7 and 2
