Phone Interview today for Internship

Hey guys,

So today I have a phone interview at 2pm for an internship with my cities IT department for entry level stuff. I had a interview for the same exact position a few months ago and got turned down. I guess I am getting another interview for it hoping I can seal the deal an land this so I can get more experience.

I was wanting to know if any of you have any advice for a phone interview preferably for an internship.

Any and all advice is appreciated.

If there is a job posting or something of the sort you should familiarize yourself with everything listed on it and be prepared to talk about it. In addition be prepared to talk about anything and everything on your resume. Prepare questions to ask them with topics ranging from technologies used in-house, culture of the company, company history, etc.

If you have already been through this process before you should know the general format and it's possible it will be very similar again. One thing I try to note is the interviewers name(s) so you can address them by name at various points in the call, and especially at the end. Thank them for taking time out of their day to discuss a great opportunity for you and make a quick summary of why they should hire you, e.g. "Thank you very much Susan, Joe, and Bob for discussing this opportunity with me today. I believe I am a great fit for the position due to my familiarity with technologies, my quick-learning nature, and my desire to exceed expectations. I look forward to hearing from you soon."

Smile when you're talking, be honest, be clear and professional. I wouldn't remind them that you interviewed months ago and were turned down either.

From my own experiences with internship interviews you will probably mostly talk about yourself and your resume. Youll probably be asked what part of IT do you like or see yourself in.
