This is the first time I have heard of this. It is so easy to get connections, why would anyone pay for this.

    I guess if your trying to scam somebody, you know they are going to google you. You want them to find info about you that seems legit. So you make up a fake name, somebody googles you, they find your LinkedIn profile, you have 100 connections in industries related to what your "selling", seems legit, now the victim decide's to do business with you and boom! They get scammed.

    Quite stupid, indeed. I don't really see the point. Like the guy said there are no shortcuts - people who do this won't last.
