Macpro76Macpro76 Member Posts: 79 ■■□□□□□□□□
I have started the process of creating an IT consulting firm. I came across the Apple Consultants Network page. They require a $1 million General Liability insurance coverage. I did some research and found Hiscox on line at

I'm curious about this as well. Do you guys that contract independently (1099 or W2) work corp to corp need liability insurance?
    IT guy since 12/00

Recent: 11/2019 - RHCSA (RHEL 7); 2/2019 - Updated VCP to 6.5 (just a few days before VMware discontinued the re-cert policy...)
    Working on: RHCE/Ansible
Future: Probably continued Red Hat Immersion, Possibly VCAP Design, or maybe a completely different path. Depends on job demands...

I do corp to corp (no 1099 orW2 work) and carry liability and E&O coverage. Best to be safe. For the OP, I've never worked with the company you mentioned. I got my insurance from a local agent.
    Thanks, Tom

Though you have to buy a membership which most people find valuable in itself, the ASCII group for IT professionals has some partnerships for insurance at good rates ASCII Group Rate Insurance for MSPs | The ASCII Group, Inc.

Hiscox is good, but not great. About $50/month will get you a decent policy. I do IT consulting and field work. Now I carry a $4,000,000 policy from Hartford, about $1600/year. Covers damn near anything except the world imploding.
