You'd better hurry up and do 70-649 (640+642+643) or 70-648 (640+642) before they expire on July 31st. If it doesn't give you enough time, you can always take 70-640 and 642 separately, and then when you pass 70-646, you will be an MCSA 2008.

I just wrote the 70-648 upgrade exam, it puts you on the same upgrade path as the 649 exam and it is a bit easier. As sratakhin said you still have to take the 646 exam to get your 2008 certification before you can upgrade that to 2012

My advice would be to go for 70-648 upgrade exam, then finish MCSA 2008 with exam 70-646 and skip the MCITP: Enterprise Administrator certification. The 70-649 exam is significantly harder than 70-648, as is 70-647 over 70-646, and you probably don't have enough time (upgrades and MCITP:EA retiring July 31st). After you get MCSA 2008, it is a one-test upgrade to MCSA 2012, then two more tests for MCSE Server Infrastructure.
