tacacs+ server

Hi Everyone,

Just wondering what server everyone uses for testing Tacacs+ or Radius? I know you have to pay for Cisco's evaluation copy and I have found a free tacacs server from here: FREE TACACS+ Server for Windows

Anyone ever used it?

Thanks

It works. Used it for my CCNA Security Cisco Network Academy Student Lab Manual v1.1 labs.

I dunno what you're talking about but I got my 60 day ACS eval license without paying a cent (I do have a CCO with a lot of access though thanks to work). It was definitely handy to lab some ASA TACACS integration but the CCNP-S does not actually cover TACACS config itself (which I think is quite stupid, its actually not trivial IMO and way more useful in real life than IPS, at least in my market, never seen anyone run Cisco IPS in prod but plenty of TACACS users).

We recently setup IPS at my client's site and they use RADIUS ;)

RADIUS: Use Windows Server, easy to setup.

Quite a few free TACACS servers out there. They do the job. As for the Cisco one, I got 60 free days off a plain (free) CCO account.

tacacs.net is not bad, I used in my lab in a pinch. Its very basic, but also keep in mind it will not teach you a thing about ACS.

It will be used for getting familiar with the IOS side of the TACACS config.

    Thanks for the reply guys.

I have a cisco.com login. How do I get a free CCO account as MickQ stated?

I also found out that packet tracer does Radius and Tacacs so this may be sufficient for just testing my config works on the routers which I think the security is mainly concerned with...
