Question On Dynamic NAT

hitmenhitmen Banned Posts: 133
Why should I convert private ip 192.168.x.x into public ip address 213.18.X.X.

Why dont I directly assign the public ip addresses to the host itself?

In that case, I can ping the host from the external network directly.

Well you can.. if you want. It depends on the design of your network.

Nothing that stops you from doing this. Of course, how many hosts and public IPs do you have?

IPv6 attacks that question directly. The people who designed IPv6 wanted to get rid of NAT and have every device be publicly routable without any translation. So like the others said it comes down to:
    1. How many public IPs do you have?
    2. Do you consider NAT an added security layer?
