Since my friend told me about TeamViewer, I have used it to help family members with PC issues, it can even be launched from my phone to remotely control a PC. Does anyone know about any software that allows 1 smartphone (android), to control another smartphone? I saw that RIM's new blackberry has some home screen sharing, and I would love to see something like that come to android, but in the meantime, I would like to be able to help some family members with their smartphone.

I've dabbled in using DroidMote to control one android device with another, cross platform I don't know.

If you were a business I would suggest Bomgar. But aside from that, no. TeamViewer is really simple, finding an Android analog would be difficult and likely a let down. That is what the cell phone provider is for. Have them run over to Sprint (other telecom providers are available) and bug the sales guys. it is their job.
