You might get something from it but the job tasks looks like a lot of generic customer service. It's good to have that and you might be able to move up into a networking position along with an appropriate degree/certs.

Thanks. I really need to do something else besides what I'm doing now. This desktop
has become pretty boring and looks like it will become obsolete down the line.

I'm sorry those are the only options open to you. Either the job market in NY is bleak, you're not beating on enough doors, or something is amiss with your resume and/or interview skills. With a CCNA plus CCNA Security, I would expect you to be able to find something more closely aligned with networking where you'd get to occasionally log onto routers and switches.

The job description under-utilizes your certifications. The silver lining would be working at Verizon. If others with the roles you desire work out of the same office, that may spell future opportunities. I'd ask about long-term growth potential. Heck, many employers would love to hear you're thinking about "If I were to stay here for 2-3 years.."

Agree with NetworkVeteran. This position would probably underutilize your skills, but it would get your foot in the door. If you can show your skills it would probably be fairly easy to move up internally in a years time.
An expert is a man who has made all the mistakes which can be made.

I agree that it's not utilizing my skills. I will definitely be looking to move up quickly. Maybe I'm not beating on enough doors. I just get a lot of contract job offers which I'm willing to take a chance with especially when I currently have a full time job.

I think it would be a good opportunity. It may not utilize your skills now, but the chance for growth if you work hard is their. Plus the name on your resume will help in the future. The network rep I work with at Verizon worked his way up the network ladder their and has a great job now.

I spoke with someone from Verizon on a career fair a year ago about available opportunities. He told me that most network engineers worked their way up from lower-level positions such as customer service support. I didn't think it was true for senior level engineers though.
