Hey all,
Sounds Good provided me the following LINK which shows a certification progression for certain fields in the eyes of CompTIA. I was just curious if you guys find it accurate or not. Specifically, do you guys think the progression makes sense or are there things that should or should not be there?
Things like Security, I know nothing about. Some of the other ones look like some decent plans. Curious what the experienced professionals think.
Thanks

I can see why they may have pushed CCNA into intermediate and CCNP into advanced. After all, a CCNA tends to make more than an A+. But their current ranking does create the misimpression that a "Green IT" or "Cloud Essentials" certification is enough to get your foot in the door and that a CCNA is for later on in your career, both quite silly!
I wish they had made some attempt at defining the networking specialist level. If you look at the certifications of members here who've been in networking a bit, it's not hard to name a few options (service provider, data center, security). Also, there is a world out there beyond Cisco including Juniper, Brocade, etc. although Cisco is the most popular.
Beginner/Novice: Network+, CCENT, CCNA
Intermediate: CCNP
Advanced: <blank>
Specialist: CCNP-SP, CCNP-Voice, CCNP-Security, CCNP-DC, etc.
Expert: CCIE -

The map is certainly one organizations perspective (although, it's obviously biased to support CompTIA's business goals).
As for your question about security - that's a very narrow view of security. And there are certainly people in security that may consider what is listed as Expert as entry-level.
