Should I update my linkedin now or later?

I've been hired at a small local company for about a week. Should I hastily update my linkedin profile with the new position or wait a few months?

When do you all usually update your linkedin after being you've landed a new position?

I usually add the new position, but leave the details blank for a while.

I keep my LinkedIn updated like my resume consistently once I start a new job or learn new skills to keep it current and updated. icon_cool.gif

I normally take 2-3 weeks before I update my linkedin... This includes my current and past employment.

I waited about two weeks with the current job. Long enough to know all the checks passed and that I going to stick around.

I tend to update my profile regularly about every couple of weeks to keep it current. Sometimes, especially with a new job, you just don't have all of the details to fill in immediately, so I'll use the job title and company as a placeholder of sorts until I can add in the pertinent info. Some of my former coworkers who weren't retained have not updated their employment status, so on LinkedIn it still appears that they work here, even six months later.

This is what I do also. I add the new job/position, but I don't put details of the position until I've moved on. I do this because obviously I'm not in the job market. When in a new role recruiters tend to contact me and I normally respectfully decline unless its an opportunity I want to get more info on. Also, at this phase I'm normally building contacts with new colleagues or old ones from previous jobs.

This right here. I usually update right away unless the skill it relatively new. Then I wait a bit and if I get to the skill down to an average user level I will list it then.
