What person with a CCIE, CCNP, CISSP, PMP or ITIL Expert would work for $63K?icon_rolleyes.gif

Does sound like a cool job for a 20 something with a degree and certs with very little experience.icon_cheers.gif

It's not always about the salary... Like mentioned above there's some hefty benefits. Keep in mind as well, it's in a service to the country capacity as well. There's people that want to serve their country. For example, no one enters the FBI seeing $ signs.

It is when you have a family and mortgage. That's why I said it would be cool for a younger person.

I can't access that site from where I'm sitting right now, but did someone say this position includes housing? Not having to worry about a mortgage/rent payment is a huge benefit.
    IT guy since 12/00

Recent: 11/2019 - RHCSA (RHEL 7); 2/2019 - Updated VCP to 6.5 (just a few days before VMware discontinued the re-cert policy...)
    Working on: RHCE/Ansible
Future: Probably continued Red Hat Immersion, Possibly VCAP Design, or maybe a completely different path. Depends on job demands...

Yes it includes housing. Keep in mind that the positions are overseas at various embassies and consulates.

I was selected for an interview last year, but I declined because I had just been offered another job. It didn't seem too hard, but I really didn't progress far in to the recruitment process.

If the pay rate for a government job borders on the obscene for the posted requirements there's a strong possibility that they already have a candidate in mind and only posting it to screen out potentially qualified personnel.

They may "luck" out and find willing candidates that can't be easily dismissed.

No, that is the pay rate. They have quite a few slots that they have to fill. The process can take a while though. I have a few good friends who are foreign service.

Sucks that this sounds so interesting to me, but wouldn't qualify cause I don't have my bachelor's yet. Wonder if they have a student position lol.

    Whats up with this? :

"Applicants are not eligible to reapply until one year after the application date of prior announcements, provided there is a new open Vacancy Announcement at that time."I might qualify for the cert with CEH, but im not sure if it is 4011.

Just an FYI, CCNA Security is 4011 in case anyone has that. Makes me just want to go kill that cert. ;)

You don't need a certification if you have bachelor's right?
