Just wondering if anyone has had any experience from the dale carnegie school. Was interested in a effective communication course and wondered what the fuss was all about. Have heard alot of good things.

Thanks

    Read the book years ago...

Also worked at a company that brought in a 'cheerleader' to try to get the employees to enroll so they DC people ran a little seminar. We had one person sign up and take the course and for him, it made a HUGE difference, but the guy was such an introvert, that he needed something to help him at least speak to people.

Otherwise, I have only 'heard' of people who had attended and the comments were positive. Considering the number of folks I have worked with over the years, I am really surprised I only recall one person attending (first hand) icon_scratch.gif

So, the fuss is mainly for folks who really want to be more comfortable around other people and sharpen their skills. Toastmasters will do that for you too.

    'i' before 'e' except after 'c'.... weird?

While I have never done the Dale Carnegie courses, I have taken similar courses and know many others who have taken DC orsimilar courses. These types of courses offer a "safe" way to explore communications styles and to understand different audiences while communicating. The materials can sometimes be characterized as "obvious generalities" but when presented in a coherent and structured manner, it can be immensely helpful for putting together a "how", "why", and "when" of business communications.

I would highly recommend such courses regardless of a person's career maturity or job function.
