mguernsey Member Posts: 43 ■■□□□□□□□□Just built my own little ESXi box using an i7-4770 on an ASRock H87M Pro4 mobo and 16GB of G.SKILL Ripjaw X series RAM. Currently storing VM's on a WD 320GB Blue drive, with a second 320GB drive providing backup (I would have preferred to put it into a RAID-1, but I don't have a hardware raid controller and I'm not interested in spending $300 for one). I'm going to try using ghettoVCB.sh for backing up my VM's - roommate was interested in trying it out, and since I'm setting my ESXi box up just like the one he has it should be a decent testbed.
I also just pulled the trigger on buying 2x2TB Seagate NAS drives for use as storage drives for my linux file server - it appears that Newegg is running a special for the next 36 hours or so on those drives so they're currently going for $100 instead of the regular $130. I planned on buying them anyways, but at least I saved a little bit of money. -

brownwrap Member Posts: 549I just purchased this server today. Supposed to arrive Monday, the 21st. I have a SSD coming from Frys, so I will be able to play. We use clusters at work, and I would like to setup up a ROCKS cluster on this, somewhere between 5 and 10 nodes. I need to learn how to administer this things.
