Passed A+, 70-680, 640 on the way, what certification to aim for?

Hi everyone,

I have just passed my Windows 7 70-680 exam today with a score 860, I have also passed both A+ exams a while ago and currently have 70-640 scheduled in as part of the course I am followed by CCNA.

My question is what should I aim for? in the way towards what certification will be relevant and easier for me to get taking I will pass the 640 exam?

I have noticed MCITP gets expired this month so it is a miss... As for MCSA my 680 exam is not going to count as far as I understand

Can 680 and 640 exams be put together towards a single useful certification?

Please some advice here

70-680 plus 70-685 (or 70-686) gives the MCSA: Windows 7
70-640 plus 70-642 plus 70-646 gives MCSA: Windows Server 2008

I will study towards 70-686 after I pass the 640 one.

Is there a point in getting both MCSAs? Or it is not worth it and I should aim at getting MCSE after MCSA Win 7?

Maybe there is no point but I plan to get both.

Hey voffka I was wondering what material did you used to pass 680? and what do you plan to use 686? I wanted to do windows 7 before january since thats when that mcsa expires. Thought getting windows 7, and 8 would better than just 8. Don't think all computers are going to move straight 8.

@Arod95 - the MCSA: Windows 7 is not going anywhere for now, only the MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Support Technician 7 will expire on January 31, 2014: Windows 7, Configuring

@Ivanjam really? thats great to hear. but i guess 868 will be impossible to get.

Whoa! I thought the MCSA 2008 was set to expire in January 2014? It's not on that list tho. Could that mean they decided not to retire it anymore?

@DoubleNNs - I think someone screwed up royally and mistakenly added the exams making up the MCSA: Server 2008 and MCSA: Windows 7 to that list. As someone said in the original thread that I got this info from, at Microsoft, the right hand seldom knows what the left hand is doing...

@Arod95 - The 70-686, 70-685 and 70-680 exams are not being retired (at least not yet). Only the MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Support Technician designation (replaced by the MCSA: Windows 7).
