Dear Ppl,

I would like to ask for your help or advice in getting a CCNA certificate. I have only little knowledge in networking let say basic networking. Actually I'm now starting to read CCNA from sybex 4th edition.

I'm also planning to take a CCNA training to make sure that I will past the CCNA exam. Actually I'm going to shift to a new carreer, before I work as a programmer and system analyst. But I found that networking is quite interesting and also I want to try some new stuff.

I hope you could help me in getting CCNA certificate. And If I will pass the exam I'm going to purse to CCNO going to CCISP.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Best Regards,
Chinaman

Studying the Sybex 4th ed is adequate. There are no major changes between 5th ed and 4th ed to insure you must buy the new book. I would recommend to read the Sybex and read the Cisco Press Intro and ICND after each other. This will give you a stronger base of knowledge to come up with answers and thoughts.

It is always recommended to use the CLI. Either try to find the simulators or for the price of the Boson simulator... you can purchase a couple of routers that would be sufficient for CCNA.

Either way... your goals are noble and enjoy the journey to completing your goals.

Thanks for your advice, actually we have cisco router in the office also some switches. I found that networking is quite interesting and really develop your skills not like in programming that all you need is to jnow the concept of basic programming.

I'm also planning to buy that book from cisco which included 2 books. If I'm not mistaken th book are CCNA Intro and ICND. Maybe next year April I'm going to take the exam If I fail fine and I'll try it again.

Right now I'm on chapter 3 Subnetting, At first I was frustrated but when that author introduce the shorcut for subnetting. Anyway, I hope to pass the exam after reading and practicing cisco router.

Definetly I'm going to pursue my goal.
    Again thanks alot.
