Ipod Touch RSSI Issues
Hi,
Working for a hospital that uses iPod touch's for nurses to input patients 'vitals' (someone in management obviously had watched ER or something).
Stood directly under an AP with the Touch in my hand looking at the RSSI values on the AP in relation to the Touch the values are all over the place, going from 50s and 40s to 5 or 6 in a second. The AP deauthorises a client when it goes below 20 so obviously this causes issues. These fluctuating RSSI value's are not seen when using an iPad2 or laptop.
We think that the Touch must be conserving battery power or cycling some process but googling the problem throws up lots of Apple-user forums which arnt that useful.
Has anyone experinced this problem or know a good place to ask about Apple problems without being told to upgrade the firmware on my router/buy a new router.
Many thanks for any help.

- Make sure Bluetooth is turned off
- It may be an issue with the wireless type, depending upon what generation it is: try setting an AP to only g if it's a b/g/n, turn off any "wide" channel support, and use WPA-Tkip for encryption if possible
- Check with multiple devices under that AP, and then under other AP's - narrow down the failure point
- Check for anything around that AP that might possibly cause interference - the antenna in a Touch is small compared to an iPad or laptop, and might not handle the same interference in a similar way
