What Is My Company Network Topology Like

My company network is such that my my boss network has a default gateway that points to the internet but my computer's default gateway can only access the intranet. If I change my default gateway to that of my superior's I can access the internet.

Does anyone know how the network is segmented? Is it possible that there are 2 routers?

My first guess would be he's bypassing a firewall. Why not just ask though?

That could be accomplished with one or two routers or a firewall.

Where your boss went wrong was not putting the "Proletariat" vs. "Bourgeoisie" on separate VLANs.

you mean to say one ip address access the internet while the other is blocked. is that what u r saying?

Either your default gateway has no route to the Internet and your boss's has one, or your boss's either takes a different route to bypass or is otherwise allowed through a firewall of some kind.
