Hey everyone,

The Navy announced today that it is funding a limited number of Information Professional Officers and Information Warfare Officers to obtain a Masters of Science in IT from RPI's IT and Web Science program each year. The Navy also funds numerous students to obtain various cyber related Masters degrees from Naval Postgraduate School (NPS). If I do stay in the Navy, I am trying to decide which of the following programs I should apply for as my next tour. Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with any of these?

Thanks!

RPI - Master of Science in Information Technology
"Navy's Cyber Civilian Institution Graduate Education program contract was announced today. Navy will fund this top-tier Cyber-related graduate education at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), in Troy, NY, starting in August 2013 and also allow starts in January 2014. The program is open to IP/1820 and IW/1810 officers. Graduates will receive a Master's of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) from RPI's Information Technology and Web Science program (ITWS). The program focuses on education supporting computer and network operations, cybersecurity, offensive and defensive Cyber operations, digital forensics, decision making, planning in the Cyber domain, and is expected to require a graduate level practicum. This is a priority CNO initiative that will replace the pilot Information Dominance graduate education program at Carnegie Mellon University."

NPS - Master of Science in Computer Science (Computer Security)
"The Computer Security Track offers a comprehensive educational package that covers the concepts, issues, theories, and technologies that affect the secure processing, transference, and storage of digital information. Track courses begin with foundational information assurance (IA) topics, then progress to more in-depth coverage of such specialized areas as: certification and accreditation, databases, networks, secure system design, and formal methods. NPS has been twice certified by the National Security Agency as a Center of Excellence in IA Education, largely as a result of the curriculum provided in this track. The Computer Security Track is supported by the Center for Information Systems Security Studies and Research (CISR)."

NPS - Master of Science in Cyber Systems and Operations
"The Cyber Systems and Operations (CSO) degree addresses a broad range of cyberspace operations: computer network attack, defense, and exploitation; cyber analysis, operations, planning and engineering; and cyber intelligence operations and analysis. Complementing focused and technically deep programs in the traditional departments, the Master of Science in Cyber Systems and Operations degree addresses the broad range of cyber topics needed by leaders, managers, and operators serving military missions.Designed for a cadre of students with diverse backgrounds, this degree program is intended to provide a deep understanding of the national and military application of integrated lines of operation including operation of the global information grid (GIG), defensive and offensive cyber operations, and the required technical and nontechnical intelligence operations underpinning these. Students will learn how to seize and sustain an information advantage through all stages of operations, from early warning through detection, planning, targeting, cyber fires, assessing effects and resetting for follow-on plans and operations."
