upgrading memory for my first router

I have recently started studying for the CCNA and I decided i will start purchasing equipment for my home lab for practice. I just purchased a 1751 router off of ebay. Should arrive in a few days. i read on the forums that i should find a 1700 series router with the black 32f box above the rj45 port(which i did). The router currently has 64d/32F. I would like to upgrade this to 128d and i would like to upgrade to whatever ios version this amount of memory can handle. I know that 64 is built into the router and i would have to buy a 64 mb stick. I found one on ebay

MEM1700 64D KCS D1700 64 64MB Memory Cisco 1701 1721 | eBay

Is this memory good for my router?

Can you guys either give a tutorial or send me to one that show how to not only install the memory but also upgrade the IOS. I have access to many different IOS versions. Also is there page that shows how much memory is required to use a specific IOS version?

The seller posted the show version of the router.

Cisco Feature Navigator - Cisco Systems will show you what the requirements are for IOS's.

As for a tutorial, you have google the same as I do...

Part of the fun of having physical lab equipment is learning to do these things on your own. As was said before, google is your friend.

thank you for your response. I have found many links explaining many things. I was wondering if you could tell me if the ebay link is a legit memory module for my router and not some crappy knock off that won't work? Also i am thinking about purchase a 2600xm router. Is $65(includes shipping) a good deal. it has 128/32 memory.

The great thing about Google is that it often points to answers in forums such as this one. Unfortunately, more and more people these days are constantly responding with "Google is your friend". As time goes on, I wonder if the responses we get from Google will be pages of forums with questions and the only answers will be "Google is your friend".

Our children will be cursing us. :)

Hopefully when people are googling they are going to a more reliable source like the vendors website.

There are a lot of things a person can learn they won't find on vendor sites.
