Hello everyone, first time poster, but I've been reading the forums here for a while. I wanted to see if I could possibly get some advice on how to extend my career and what would be the best choice.
I currently am 24, and live in NOVA. I was lucky at 18, not going to college and got into the gov contracting at 18 from my parents friends who owned a pretty big IT company that had many contracts with DoD. Downside was that it was the physical cable install side. I then went from there to the Pentagon with the GD project, then to DOS, and now back to DOD for about a year at this new job with a perm hire. During this time I was able to obtain a security clearance as well, which honestly, is the only best part about it. The job is fun becaue of the people I work with at the moment, which is the only reason I took this job, along with a pay increase, but the work itself is tiring and not something I want to be doing in the next few years.
I want to get more into the networking/infosec side of things and secure a better paycheck/future, because as we all know, making 55k in NOVA isnt the most fun and still currently live with my parents because its just too expensive to live on my own. Im currently going to nova off and on for classes, but am struggling to be honest. The more i read about WGU, the more I want to sign up.
The only problem is that I always look at the worst in these kinds of situations and wonder what if something happens and I cant finish. I want to still be able to have my Associates from a b&m, and get some classes taken out of the need to take at WGU, which is why I'm still going to nova instead of jumping right in to WGU. Should I still be worried about completing that, or get into WGU ? I plan on taking my Security+, WIndows certs, and a few others in the next few months because my employer pays for them, so i might as well take them now for free, and test out of the classes at WGU for later.
Here are the Programs at NOVA.
NOVA 2012-2013 COLLEGE CATALOG : PROGRAMS OF STUDYim currently taking this Information Technology program and all the general ed classes are just killing me, Ive failed a decent amount because I completely lost motivation before.
The question is, would it be better to take this A.A.S., because I am struggling in the general ed classes. This covers more IT classes, even though it says is not suited for transfer.

Would one be better than the other if I plan on transferring to WGU after?
