Network tester recommendations wanted
With some of the work I've done lately (and some I've turned down because of improper tools) I need a cable tester/probe cat 5/6 check cables, length, tone generator/probe. All I have now is cheap tone gen/probe. I've seen a few that look ok but can't afford $300-400.
No longer work in IT. Play around with stuff sometimes still and fix stuff for friends and relatives.

If your on a budget maybe you could try something like Paladin Tools 1574 LAN Cable Check for Testing UTP and Phone Patch Cables and Installed Cable - Amazon.com It will help with pinouts but it doesn't come close to anything like Fluke Networks CABLEIQ QUALIFICATION TESTER ( CIQ-100 ) - Amazon.comA.A.S. in Networking Technologies

Actually looking for something in between..that gives lengths and distance to a fault. I was hoping to find someone who knew of something good and durable to do that in the 150-2500 USD range. I've been checking Amazon and Tiger Direct but would prefer to hear from people who have used the testers.No longer work in IT.
