Anyone get to play with the Cisco Nexus 1000V's yet?

I dont get the luxury to mess with the Nexus 1000V's in a lab or prod at the current data center I work at. We only use Nexus 7009, 7018, 5596UP, and FEX 2K's. I have been looking at the Nexus 1000V's data sheets and "at a glance" and they look freaking sweet! Looks like they have tailored to VMware product suite and the 1000V's run the actual VMware hyper-visor along with the Virtual Supervisor Module.

Any knowledge of these or comments?

I was going to try it in Hyper-v however it requires System Center and I don't have that setup right now

Here a trunk, there a trunk, everywhere a trunk.... Haven't had time to play with them but I'm sure once I and others have had time to play with them their will be some vulnerabilities exploited; especially with the port provisioning aspect.

Yes we use them here at my work.

I am currently trying to deploy it on hyper-v and having some issue and if the install gives out and doesnt uninstall properly it is a pain to remove.
However on VMWare it is really cool so far for what I have gotten to play with.

The 1000v also has "freemium" pricing. It can be downloaded for free, and played with for free. You'll only need to pay for the advanced features should you need to light them up. So, getting your hands on a 1000v costs nothing but a few hours of time getting it installed

Sweet, thanks for that info! My company is to cheap for anything, so I have to provide my own hand on knowledge.

Try removing it from a VMware installation. It can be a major pain in the butt.

Might be slightly off topic -- however,

There is also the Cisco ASA 1000v and CSR 1000v which can also be downloaded and played with same as the Nexus 1000v. This makes it pretty easy to set up a 1000v lab in a VMware environment that gives you exposure to ASA, IOS XR(E) and NX-OS

Any big differences between the ASA 1000V and have an ASA 5505 in my lab home? Minus the failover and clustering.

If you can get an AM approval or if you work for a cisco partner and can get a sponsor they have Cisco Cloud Labs where you can deploy and play with the 1000v and other nexus line stuff. Definitely worth checking out.
