Leaving my job and moving forward.

Hey everyone! I have read on this site for years and finally signed up. I have a question regarding jobs for you. I have been at my current job as IT manager / IT technician for 8 years now and ready to move on as I have progressed as much as I can here. I'm in the process of enrolling at WGU; actually finishing enrollment things up tomorrow.

Thing is.. Although I have been here 8 years, I have never had an IT job elsewhere. All these job titles can be overwhelmingly confusing to decipher. Looking at my resume ( omitted specific details ) what job would you suggest I go for? Just really grasping for straws here. Not sure if it will matter, but I am located near Indianapolis, IN.

Pick up your Network+ cert which is required for most WGU degrees and look for a NOC role. The NOC role should give you good experience and time to study as well as on the job training and progression. Draw backs might be shift work and possibly less pay than managerial work.

Thanks for the input! I plan on going the security route for the degree; so NOC support would probably be a good route to start off with job~wise. Getting pretty excited about this!
