I have been jumping ship for a while now, trying to re-capture the best job I have ever had. The best job was working for a small MSP - 20 odd people, massive revenue, great environment.
MD sold the company and the group effectively closed the office. From that point on I kept working / leaving in big corporate companies and I realised very quickly, that I am not made for it. I kept jumping between jobs in hope I can get that warm and fuzzy feeling back, but quickly realised that it probably isn't possible.
I am in my current job only for a few months but I usually keep contact with nice recruiter (some can't keep up drinking, which is funny lol), anyway, one contacted me if I know a particular person for a role in a small MSP company.
He didn't offer it to myself knowing I am only a few months in that company. But reading through that job spec I thought - damn, that is what "I" want.
Had a phone interview lined up within a day, which lasted about an hour and a bit. I got the face to face within 72hrs.
I didn't think much of it, one of those "too good to be true", especially since they advertised the job on their website as well. The job was on the market for quite some time and they have seen quite a few people, so my confidence was next to nothing ..
Anyway, interview was scheduled for 9:30am ... met the lead engineer, head of department and the MD. Time was flying and I left their office at around 1pm

I met the recruiter in Starbucks as well and he was surprised how long the meeting was and I just realised how great that place is. Basically a new "job I would love" in the making ..
Again, the technical interview didn't go well I thought - the role requires extensive Unix knowledge too.
Anyway, sitting on the train at 2pm the last thing I expected was a phone call I received - I got the job

I was shocked ... I think I never ever expected that ... Bloody great company, great money and what a turnaround - they really have a pretty damn good no-nonsense approach ..
Makes you feel proud when you get a job which is on the market for so long, especially within basically hours of applying, even though they know you fall short in certain technical areas, believing in you that you are able to pick it up quickly (no pressure lol).
Anyway, I am finally leaving big finance corporates to go back to a cute awesome family-like MSP, working as "Unix & Vmware System Engineer".
I know one thing, if that doesn't work out - nothing ever will
