Finally, after 4-5 months of semi-aggressive job seeking, I've landed a network intrusion job!
For those who don't know, I don't have much "explicit" infosec experience. I started doing desktop support for two years, worked as a jr to sr systems engineer for two years and my last job as a email disaster recovery/mail flow/email security person for four. I hold the MCTS, Security+ and GSEC (from last year), all for the name of getting a gig in infosec.
I had a few interviews here and there, but my lack of real world security experience really held me back. However, I finally managed to impress this company enough to give me a chance, so I hope this is a new beginning. I couldn't have done it without self-interest, motivation and the GSEC. It provided the necessary building blocks.
