Security + exam and advice post testing
I am registerd to take my exam 28 Aug 2013. A little about me, I serve as the Security Manager for the Network Enterprise Center on Ft Campbell Ky. We provide communications support for the entire post and units assigned to it. A post that straddles both Tennessee and Kentucky as well as main lines of communication such as Highway 24. As security manager I manage all realms of protective measures including physical, communications, support to federal authorities during emergencies, intelligence, and force protection/anti terrorism. I have a Grad degree in Security Management and will take my government SFPC exam shortly as well. I currently sork as a government employee as a 2210 INFOSEC Specialist but more of a Physical Security Manager. I am really interested in my job and especially learning more tech aspects( i donot have a cable puller or NA background but understand basic concepts). That said once i am Security + certified what advice would you guys reccomend. I lean more towards the CISSP but havent the foggiest. Thanks in advance.

The CISSP is considered by many to be a premier security certification and many people pursue the SSCP as a stepping stone on the path to the CISSP after passing the Security+.
Do you plan on staying in a government position? If so, what DoD level (DoD Directive 8570.01 Information Assurance Training, Certification and Workforce Management - Frequently Asked Questions) do you want to work at? Computing? Networks? Enclave? This page (DoD 8570 Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program) includes listings of certs for different levels.
Hope this helps.
