Yes SYS is created as a NSS volume during a new server install!

Yup, and fortunately with the latest service pack, you can use NSSMU to manage the NSS drives in case SYS decides to blow up. Prior to NSSMU, you needed C1 to manage NSS, but you couldn't use C1 on the client or on the server because the server had no working SYS to connect to or run server utilities.

Ah, fun times those were, growing up with Netware. I remember the days when I thought how cool NW 3.1 was when it first came out. One of the new benefits of NW 3.1 was you could salvage a single file instead of a whole folder (or was it a whole drive?)
