Hi
Like many others I am really confused if I can get a job with just only a CCNA? I am from India and it is such a place where only Engineering degrees or MCA/MSc in Comp Science counts.
Even now as I was browsing some major job portals of India and abroad I find that most jobs in CCNA are asking lots of certifications as well a Engineering degree (which is a common factor for most jobs) I am only a pure science graduate with no majors. I had my subjects as Phy,Chem & Maths, that too I have a 2 years degree since the BSc (regular mode) offered that time (i graduated in 1999) by the State University of our state was a 2 years graduation in arts ,commerce and science. We had a system of Pass and Honors degrees where the Pass course used to be 2years and the Honors course used to be 3 years. From 2000 the system was abolished and now most students in our state graduate with a common 3 years degree(irrespective of Honors or Pass course).
I have a work experience of 4 years in 2 companies as sales executive mostly in pharma and fmcg.Unfortunately I failed miserably to achieve my sales targets mainly because of
wrong job profile not suited to my personality.I don't want to go back to that job again.
Please can anyone tell me,what are my chances of getting a job in core IT networking (not restricted to only Help desk jobs)with this type of background?
I am already 36 yo and there is very little time for me to do engineering before I reach 40! Also,I am still single and I have to settle down fast as my parents are in frail health condition and my father can die any moment on whose pension we live.
I dont like to do any kind of job so I am waiting to pass my ccna to get into something technical .Till then I dont want to get into any job.
Please help me.

Thanks
With Regards

Well I can only go by what I see in the US Job market since that is where I am from. When I worked in IT I did see a very clear preference by our hiring manager for Computer Science or Engineering degrees, although most people I worked with did not have an IT degree at all. However, whenever someone got hired in our company who had a Computer Science or Engineering degree they were given preferential treatment. They were hired in at a higher salary, given a higher job title, and treated better by the bosses and respected more. One guy came in with a degree in Computer Science from the University of Chicago with years of experience in IT, the partners were practically drooling over him. They hired him as our senior Network Administrator. All our bosses(partners) had Computer Engineering degrees from Purdue.

there is no need for you to get an engineering degree as you already have a B.Sc. In networking, your degree doesnt matter as much as your most recent certification. just finish getting ccna certified or join some cisco training center in your city.
