Interview for network administrator position on Friday

I got precisely zilch in terms of employer responses before I got my CCNA, so if anyone doubts, yeah that does open doors even in a crappy local market like mine. It's a permanent, direct-hire position with great benefits/salary, and I applied through an IT firm.

I am currently an IT generalist/help desk analyst, and the job is asking for 'extensive knowledge of' enterprise level network design and implementation and all that that entails, along with a laundry list of 'willingness to learn' topics like Exchange, Citrix and Vmware. Furthermore, I'd be the only IT person on site (there's a remote team in another state). For some that would be awesome, but I'm not sure how I feel about being essentially faceless to my hiring manager/supervisor.

Nervous and not sure how to spend my time. I haven't interviewed for anything in over a year, and haven't interviewed outside my current company in over ten years.

Edit: I just realized that this was a mostly rambling post without a question, and I don't really have a question unless anyone wants to throw out random useful advice on what to do with myself this week.

i appreciate you sharing, i keep applying for jobs but i dont hear anything back, i think I am finally going to pay for some of these certs such as exchange and mcsa

At my current position (that I just started a few months ago) I am one of two people at my location, the reset of my team and company is based all over the word. It does take some getting used to, but with modern technology (email, Skype/video conferencing. etc.) I don't think being a remote worker really prevents me from keeping in touch. Coming from the banking industry, I now kind of like not having my boss in the same location as I am

Most important thing I would say is be honest! Don't try to bs you way through a question so much that it makes you look bad. Just say something like "I'm am familiar with that technology, but I don't know that exact answer off hand. It would be something I would have to research". Then maybe say something about the technology/equipment that you DO know that is still some what relevant.

Getting a response and actually getting an interview is sometimes that most challenging part! Good luck!

I forgot to respond to this thread. Thank you all for your advice! They pushed the interview back to this past Monday; it was a 30 minute HR screening without any technical questions. It must have went well because they called and want to see me again on Monday or Tuesday next week for an over-the-phone technical interview with two members of the IT team up in New Jersey.

Nervous and excited! The job is really solid and the office was my kind of environment. It does involve some travel to their satellite offices in San Diego, Philadelphia and some suburb of NYC that I can't remember the name of.
