Need advice fast

Hello.

In Ireland, if you are unemployed for 3 months you can do an internship. Some internships are network admin (the goal) some are 1st line technical support. Basically you get tiny bit of extra money for the experience. I have 3 weeks before I can start an internship.

A recruiter phoned and wants me to start next Monday. A 3 month contract rolling out Windows 7 on XP desktop towers individually from a USB for a major bank.

3 months paid work, 3 months experience doing a operating system rollout (will this help getting a 1st line support role? System admin role?) or wait a few weeks and if im lucky, be working as a network admin under the wing of a mentor, or if im not lucky going straight into 1st line support.

I will have to let him know in the next 4 hours if I want to pull out.

Since it is only 3 months I would definitely do it for the experience. I would say it would help you in getting a helpdesk/desktop support role when you are finished.

Take it, the contract could go on longer and you'll get a reference, you can line up an internship after if nothing more comes of it... It may not be Cisco but it's something better than what you had before (from the sounds of things). Contracting is good money too..

I could embellish the role after but from what I know, its a pre-configured version of Windows 7 and im updating Windows XP systems one by one. Thats it. The recruiter said if ive updated my computer before then thats all i'll really be doing.

Cons are;

I cant finish my Security+, and I only have one module left for the ECDL (I could pay to do the last module privately)
I will miss any good internships (last one was 2 positions for network admin, no experience required and they train you for CCNA and Voice.
I wont be able to Finish the Security+ cert, or take another course for the CCNA or MCSE (CCNA is home learning, the MCSE is 7 odd months in a local college).
If I say no, chances are this recruiter wont contact me again about these roles, but all these roles are short notice, short contracts.

Pros;

I can say I worked in a major bank doing IT work.
Answering any questions each person has about the new system could look very good in regards to getting a technical role.
I get paid.

I'm going to phone the guy now. I don't have a car but can make it into town easily, and ask about pay (my mistake last time taking this role was just being happy with it).

I'd go for the contract over jobbridge.
Experience in a contract and working environment as a contractor will benefit you more than a jobbridge (personal opinion is it's a govt. scam) and you can get your certs as you go along. They're not worth as much without practical experience which you'll get contracting.
