Here is my resume

I am taking the Security+ exam next week, so hopefully after that I will have that listed under the certifications section and I can take the other restaurant related certs out! Just looking to see if the rest looks good or if there is anything I can do to make it better.

Please look at the other resume threads in this site, there are a lot of successful resumes. I m not expert but definitely some changes has to be made.

I'm trying to break into IT, but I can tell you a few things:

- I don't like the formatting. Spend some time making it look nicer.
- You're using bullet points for full paragraphs, perhaps provide a summary of your skills? Can you link these skills to any jobs?
- Get rid of the bartending certification, the CEUs are pretty much irrelevant, and take others' advice regarding whether to keep the Electricity Journeyman's License
- Put your college education before high school
- Number of credits is not really relevant enough to waste a line on
- I might change "IT Courses ..." to "Relevant Coursework"

Plenty of room for improvement, but start here.

Thanks Steve, that's some really good input so far, you are absolutely right on all points stated, I will start doing some editing. I am sure there are more problems though, anyone else see any?

It all depends on what your trying to do? help desk, desktop support, etc. Always try to make your resume match the job your applying for. Almost always companies will use a "word locator" to match your resume. I know your trying to get into the field but you have to have direction and your resume shows everything in general. hope this helps

Don't list your GPA as well.

Awesome, I will have to delete a few things. So I should probably delete the 4 IT courses along with the grades in the education section as well, huh?

I am also going to cut up the "IT Experience" section by simply listing the different elements (Group Policy, Active Directory etc.) I have experienced with rather than typing out full paragraphs.

I am aiming towards help desk/desktop support right now so anything I can do to tweak my resume more to the tune of those professions is what I am interested in.

I'd revise it and repost in this thread. You will definitely be better off turning those long paragraphs into a list that can be quickly read.

I updated my resume, gave it a new look, and simplified it a bit. I just read the thread about not fluffing up your resume, so I considered that and changed a few things because I didn't want to come off like I am an expert on anything.

I put that I am studying for Security+ because I do not have it yet, and there is an entry level position that I am applying for tomorrow. I read a post about how an interviewer liked the idea that someone is currently studying. Once I get my cert I will obviously just have Security+ there.

That is the only thing that I think might generate a comment from reviewers of this resume. I am sure that something could be fixed. Maybe a different choice of words somewhere or removing something completely, or adding something in its place.

I really appreciate the critiques so far, it has helped immensely.

I think your resume should just be 1 page. Take out some of the customer service type jobs and just integrate the skills from one onto the other. I'd also look into maybe going for Microsoft certs later on, but thats another topic.
