Passed A+

in A+
I was originally going to take them today, then decided to hold off until Thursday. At any rate, I was at school today, and a little ticked to find two of my classes had been cancelled (leaving me with 1 class for the quarter). Since I would have had no classes on Weds, I dropped by the testing center to see if I could reschedule my exam. The administrator said sure, when would I like it. Told her Wednesday, and said jokingly, unless you'd like to let me take it today. She looked at her schedule and said sure, she had an opening at 2pm. So I mentally said screw it, I'm sick of studying for this test, time to get it over with.
Took both exams in one sitting, took me about 17 minutes total (and that's with completing surveys at the end of each section as well).
Scored 1046 on the Core Technologies, and I'm pretty sure I didn't miss a single question, since my score report does not indicate that I missed questions on any of the exams objectives.
My OS score was only 825, which really does reflect the amount of study time I put into it, so I'm not all that surprised. My score report indicates I missed at least 2 questions, and I'm pretty sure I know exactly which ones I missed. Due to the NDA, I can't say exactly what the questions were, but I will say this - Study your NT stuff. It *is* on the exam.
At any rate, this is about five years overdue for me (little thing called Everquest got in the way of me studying and dealing with all these certification bothers ), so I'm relieved that I finally have this one off my back.
Next up: MCSA. Bring on the 70-210!

Drakonblayde Member Posts: 542Oh yeah. Study materials included this site (of course! ), the Meyers All-In-One study guide (I liked Meyers writing style, it was easy to flow along with, but he doesn't go into as much detail on some things as he should, that being said, it's a respectable study guide, especially for a novice), a quarter of Microcomputer Maintainance and Repair at school which tracked to most of the A+ core objectives (essentially, I got to spend 10 weeks playing with hardware in a hands on environment and helping out my classmates since we had a bunch of novices and only one teacher to go around). For the practice tests, again the Transcenders helped me assess my readiness. As I mentioned above, I skimped on study time for the OS portion of the exam, and my score reflects it. I think for further exams, I'll stop being a cocky little sucker and put more effort into it= Marcus Drakonblayde

lazyart Member Posts: 483Congrats. I think you can be a bit cocky with A+.. at least you get a feel for the testing enviroment before heading to other exams.I'm not a complete idiot... some parts are missing.

Drakonblayde Member Posts: 542I'm glad to finally have it over with, espeically since now I can go around and at least try to get a job as a bench tech until I'm out of school. Not to mention that the A+ cert effectively lets me test out of the A+ software prep course at school. I get elective credit without having to sit the class, whee!= Marcus Drakonblayde

Forgotten Member Posts: 15 ■□□□□□□□□□I do not want to create a separate topic. I passed my OS technologies on July 7, Monday.
Now I am off to Network+ and then MCP.
But before I do any of that, I should start looking for new job.
P.S. Congrats to DrakonBlayde -

Forgotten Member Posts: 15 ■□□□□□□□□□Thank you, Webmaster.
I will need every bit of that luck, since I feel that the job search in IT industry without experience, even with certs will not be easy.
Well, I have a job right now but it will not suffice for college and I need to find something closer to my major. -
