Areas with good IT jobs

My brother has decided to join the army and I figured now is a good time to start looking at other areas since he will be leaving in October. Any advice on where a lot of IT jobs are in the US? I plan on keeping my current jobs and I work from home so if I dont find anything right away I can still do those. I really want to work in the public(not sure why I was thinking private) sector do thinking somewhere around DC, Maryland or Virginia. But I also really like the weather in Washington state so I might go that direction. If you had a choice and the ability, where would you go to look for work?

I live in the DC metro area, and it's definitely one of the prime locations for IT jobs in the US. Not sure if it's the best bet for private sector, as most of the IT jobs here are with the Federal Government.

#1 is Silicon Valley and #2 is the Seattle area

Thanks ajd86, not sure why I was thinking private. Public is what I want, I'd like to eventually get in to network security and federal work is what Im looking at.

Well I do have the choice and ability to be pretty much anywhere in the US I want and picked near Seattle. The job market out here is awesome and I absolutely love the state.

Being able to get from the beach to the middle of a forest up skiing in the mountains within hours is awesome!

I'd probably go to Atlanta. Great overall weather, one of the top cities for IT jobs, I'd say top 10. The cost of living is really low, houses and rent is cheap, yet the pay is comparable to a more expensive city. But that's me.

Haven't actually looked for a different job in a few years but it's on my to do list next year, but this area seems to be doing just fine
