I've been reading some of the blog posts coming out of VMWorld and I was getting pretty jealous about all the new shiny considering I don't get to use VMWare at work anymore when I spotted a post about the new "VMware Certified Associate - Data Center Virtualization" cert and the half price code to use with it (VCA501)
I sat through the (free) course
VMware Data Center Virtualization Fundamentals, signed up, paid my money and passed. The questions are very direct and as long as you have a decent knowledge of the vmware family of products and what each part does you should have no problem passing.
The test itself can be taken from home (which is why I did it tonight while the missus is out

) and does actually work on Linux - firefox on Fedora for me. I assume due to the home based nature of the exam it won't ever rise very high in value but it was a little bit of evening fun and forced me to brush up on the product set so it was worth a little time and money.
