Boson Netsim bug?

Deadmaster200Deadmaster200 Member Posts: 145
Hey dudes, I am trying to set up a network on boson netsim to do the hands on labs for chapter 5 in the sybex ccna book. It is 1 2621 and 3 2501s. The connection between the 2621 and 2501 is ethernet. I have up and up, but cannot ping each other. Is it some kind of bug that routers cannot be connected by ethernet?

I set it up just as the book says.

    172.16.10.1 and 172.16.10.2 24-bit masks

i tried once, and was able to ping and telnet from the 2501 to the 2621, but can not ping from the 2621 to the 2501.

started again from scratch thinking it was a bug, and then couldnt ping from either side.

In the following hands-on labs, you will configure a network with three 2501 routers and one
2621 router. These labs were meant for use with real Cisco routers.
The following labs will be covered:
    Lab 5.1: Creating Static Routes
Lab 5.2: Dynamic Routing with RIP
Lab 5.3: Dynamic Routing with IGRP
Table 5.3 shows our IP addresses for each router (each interface uses a /24 mask).
Figure 5.15 will be used to configure all routers.

Create a new network from scratch with only a 2501 and 2621 connected.
Setup the IP addresses again and see will it work, maybe there is a problem on boson connecting a FE to ETH? If it doesnt work try and see is there anything you can change on the FE port like half/full duplex.Other than that
post your config and talk to Johnny as he seems to be the man on boson!
Networking, sometimes i love it, mostly i hate it.Its all about the $$$$

Yeah, after getting pissed with it and doing something else for a while, I came back and tried again from scratch and it worked.

The lab is about setting up static routes and RIP and IGRP networks.
Static routes worked OK, but RIP wouldnt work, so I got pissed again and just quit the program.

    What a pain!!
When is my real lab coming!?!?!?
Been waiting for 6 weeks now......
