What to wear?

I'm 22 years old and applying to IT help desk jobs. What should I wear to the interviews and to the job itself?

Suit jacket and a tie at least. (JMHO)

no brainier...dress to impress. If you have a suit wear it , if all you can pull together is some slacks, button down and a tie go with that

Honestly, always go in with a suit and if you don't have one, could perhaps pick a suit for like 200-300 at an outlets or sale. If cannot do that, at least nice slacks, long sleeves and tie, nice jacket if don't have suit/sport coat. I was told for one interview that the place is a very casual environment and basically told to be comfortable and not wear the suit, so I didn't. I have worn suits everywhere else.

Definitely suit. Better to be overdressed than to underdressed.

As others had said where a suit. If you can't afford a suit where dress shirt, tie , and dress paints.

Wear a tie, slacks, and a long sleeve button down shirt. If you have a well fitting suit wear that. Sometimes you can find a semi modern looking suit at goodwill that fits. If so get that. If not their sports jackets are typically okay. Show them you take it seriously. If you go in a polo and khakis you may not stand out or worse you may stand out as someone who didn't put in any effort.

If the interviewer says "seriously, no ties." then follow his advice. If nothing is said dress to impress.

I recently had an interview with Amazon, and on the email letting me know what to expect it stated that I should NOT wear a suit, but to wear what was comfortable to me. Ive never not worn a suit before.

I'm currently working as a computer tech with a small amount of helpdesk in it. I wore nice slacks and a button down shirt with dress socks/shoes. My dress requirements for work is business casual. Pretty much as long as I have a collard shirt on, they don't care.

I would hire someone who had the sense of humor to actually come to an interview dressed like that.
