In need of guidance

Hello all, this is my first post to this site, but it looks great from what I am seeing. I am need of a little guidance of figuring out what certs I should start hitting. I currently don't have any certs, but I do have my Associates as a Network Specialist. Right now, I am working on my Bachelors in MIS and have been in one man IT for a 50 person firm for 3 years. I would like to get Security type certs, but there are just so many. I know there is the Sec. + but I was looking for something a little more advanced, just don't know where to start. Thanks in advance!

You could check out cisco security certifications if you are running cisco in your environment.

For general security certs, SSCP and CASP are a step above the Security+.

Unless you're already pretty knowledgeable about security standards, cryptoraphy and whatnot, then I would start with the basics, otherwise you may not fully grasp the material of some of the more advanced certs. From there on, what cert you pursue will depend on where you want to go in the security field. CCNA security is also going to require CCNA as a prerequisite.
