I'm CONSTANTLY getting notified, but not that I'll be doing "something else", but I will be doing "something in addition too".

I always have newer tasks added, but am never able to pass off old tasks!

But to answer your question, Yes i'be been through that situation. Typically it is discussed with my Dir. of Security and IT Infrastructure and my CIO, then we go through the whole change management process, add it to the neccessary documentation, blah blah blah....

If it's a major change or resonsibility, I had no problem requesting some sort of compensation for taking on the task. If its just a little change that goes with the job, then I just rolled with it.

I've been reorg'ed a few times into slightly different roles. If it was a major move to something I didn't want to do I'd just find a new job.

Yup. I've been through many reorganizations.. good, bad, and neutral. Often, if the change is clearly negative, they throw in some temporary compensation, and it's up to you whether to accept that (for a spell) or move on.
