Could someone please critique my resume?

I just to laid off last Friday because of budget cuts after only being there for six months. My contracting company is trying to find me work. So they asked me for an updated copy of my resume.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be great.

I know I said the word supported a lot in the first section. I just couldn't find another word than supported. I am just a entry to mid level systems administrator. I am too smart for help desk, yet I am not a senior systems administrator.

I Prefer the word administered rather then supported, but I ran into the same issue where I used administered to much on mine.

What were some of your daily or weekly duties? Could you explain what you did to maintain all those chassis and blade servers as well as the ESXi hosts?

What about windows tasks? did you do any patching or patch management tasks? monitoring tasks?
I would try and expand more directly on your first section but other then that looks pretty good to me.

Not bad over all. I would try to add some quantifiable things you have done to your experience section. Right now it reads like a list of job duties HR made up. You want it to read as what you actually did to help this company succeed and meet their goals.

I am in an odd situation here. I was being trained with the idea that I would be going switching over to permanent. IE, getting more responsibilities and training. Sadly, that never happened because of the budget cuts. So I pretty much did whatever had to be done that day. No two days were a like.

I had to do a lot basic data center technician tasks (the server team owns the data center, we didn't have data center techs because of budgeting), such as replacing memory, cache batteries, and moving blades from on chassis to another. I didn't do any patching, the security team handled that, and our NOC did all of the monitoring. Another department handled all of the software distribution, and the storage admins took care of our SANs and backups.

I did setup new servers (both virtual and physical), vMotion-ed VMs around, and added hard drive space to VMs. I didn't do any help desk tasks such as resetting passwords, and deploying printers.

I really felt that I was just getting started there. I was really shocked and sad that I got laid off.
