What do you guys think of Lockheed Martin?

My brother sponsored me for a position with Lockheed a while back and I was contacted for a interview today for a jr. network security analyst. I wanted to know what you guys experiences and opinions were of the company.

You can make mad money working for LM but it's a CYA company and very competitive. Most people who "work" for LM are sub-contractors so it's a great gig for networking - socially and professionally - if you are in the right places.

LM is a good place to start out in. Since you live in the DMV, getting a clearance out of the job is probably the biggest bonus if they are willing to pay for it. But like Waffles said, it's a CYA company. They have WAY too many managers, keep on the lookout for the "Yes Man" and the "Micro Manager". Also management is way too quick to fire someone for their mistakes. Get in, learn and do a good job. Take advantage of any of training you can get out of them. Know your worth, because they will try and short change you eventually. Good luck....

The position I am interviewing for is only a public trust clearance. But I was wondering about being able to transfer to another agency such as NSA and having them sponsor me for the top secret.

I noticed that in most of the job postings they want somebody who already has a top secret.

What is a CYA company?

CYA = "Cover Your A$$". I really haven't seen any of the IC (Intelligence Community Agencies) taking sponsors on unless you are at top of the game candidate. Starting at Public Trust, I think you should concentrate on the job and then look for positions that use Secret after you have an established "history" which is usually 1-3 years. Recommend that you do a web search on clearance levels and try this site: https://home.intelligencecareers.com/category/advice

Absolutely, take the position and don't worry about the clearance thing because I'm sure LM will sponsor you for getting you one. Most times when you work for a contractor for the government they want someone with a security clearance. I would be more concerned about my paycheck then getting a security clearance.
