What sites does everyone recommend to look for a job?

Good Evening,

I know Dice.com was mentioned. I been looking through there. What other sites does everyone suggest to be looking at. I am based in Houston and I know there are job here, very few help desk jobs from what I had seen. But we will see where I end up after my degree. Thanks for the advice and being awesome.

I have had way more success with CraigsList over most other websites.

I've found most of my jobs through Craigslist, although I've been contacted for quite a few from LinkedIn after I updated my profile.

Jobs on dice seem to be on the more advanced side. You'll probably find more entry level positions on craigslist.

I just pick one of the big ones (Monster, Dice, Hotjobs, etc.)--that's enough to be flooded with positions.

Thanks, I will be looking around today to see what is out there. Thanks again, I think the other one I had seen mentioned was indeed.com somewhere on a post. I will look at all of them though and see what is there.

I think you should build a maintain a profile on all the job sites - dice, indeed, careerbuiler, monster, theladders, etc. Also hit up recruiters in your area.

But as far as applying, craigslist.

Indeed will get you the most results for almost any job search. Since it aggregates, it is hard to do an individual search on another site that tops indeed.

Dice, in my opinion, gets the best results. It will get some that aren't on indeed, and they are typically more relevant.

LinkedIn is really nice for letting them find you. I get periodic contacts on LinkedIn, and they're usually for very relevant results. What you'll get from profiles on job sites is more nonsense than relevance. LinkedIn has been about 50/50 irrelevant/relevant, while the others are more 90/10. I actually turned down an offer i got as a result of a LinkedIn solicitation recently, and I wasn't looking at all. I even got an Inmail a recruiter working at LinkedIn itself recently, but I'm not relocating to CA anytime soon even to work for a big Valley name. However, while LinkedIn's search is pretty decent, job search sites have way more results. I would stick with others for more active searching.

Monster still has a lot of positions, enough to be worth searching and keeping a profile on during hunts. For more passive searching, Indeed, LinkedIn, and Dice are plenty, at least for me.

CareerBuilder is mostly worthless at this point, IMO. It's just another Monster, but with fewer, less relevant results. I wouldn't spend time on it unless I were looking really, really, really hard

I have had poor luck with Craigslist. It's been a while since I gave it a serious try, but for good reasons. For the rare occasion I find something relevant on CL, I'll find several dozen on any of the others job site, even LinkedIn. Maybe it's just MN, but I'm not convinced CL is worth it for anything but super-active searching.
